Best Wedding Venues in Manchester & Greater Manchester

Written by Nick Rushton — Award-Winning Magician

Having performed as a wedding magician in Manchester for over 29 years, I've been lucky enough to work at most of the city's top wedding venues. Here's my personal guide to the best wedding venues in Manchester and Greater Manchester — based on real experience performing at hundreds of weddings across the region.

Luxury Hotel Wedding Venues

The Midland Hotel

The Midland is Manchester's most iconic hotel and one of the finest wedding venues in the city. The grand ballroom is stunning — high ceilings, beautiful chandeliers and an atmosphere that's hard to beat. I've performed here many times and the staff are always excellent. Close-up magic works beautifully during the drinks reception in the Octagon Lounge.

Capacity: Up to 300 guests · Location: Peter Street, M60 2DS

The Lowry Hotel

Situated on the banks of the River Irwell in Salford, The Lowry Hotel is one of Manchester's five-star wedding venues. The riverside terrace is perfect for drinks receptions — I've performed there on summer evenings and the setting is beautiful. The Charles Hallé Suite comfortably holds large wedding breakfasts.

Capacity: Up to 200 guests · Location: Chapel Wharf, Salford, M3 5LH

Stock Exchange Hotel

One of Manchester's newest luxury venues, the Stock Exchange Hotel is Gary Neville's boutique hotel inside the beautifully restored former stock exchange building. Intimate, stylish and perfect for smaller weddings. Table magic between courses works exceptionally well here.

Capacity: Up to 80 guests · Location: Norfolk Street, M2 1DW

The Principal Manchester

Formerly The Palace Hotel, this is a Grade II listed Victorian building with incredible architecture. The Ballroom is jaw-dropping and the building's grand staircase is a photographer's dream. I've performed at several weddings and corporate events here — the sheer scale of the venue always impresses guests.

Capacity: Up to 500 guests · Location: Oxford Street, M60 7HA

Country House & Boutique Venues

Didsbury House Hotel

A boutique hotel in the heart of Didsbury Village with beautiful gardens. It's a lovely intimate venue — perfect for smaller weddings of 50–100 guests. The garden terrace is ideal for a summer drinks reception with mix-and-mingle magic.

Capacity: Up to 100 guests · Location: Didsbury Park, M20 5LH

Worsley Park Marriott

Set in 200 acres of parkland, Worsley Park is a popular choice for larger Manchester weddings. The grounds are gorgeous and the function rooms are well set up for both ceremony and reception. I've performed table magic between courses here several times — the layout works perfectly for moving between tables.

Capacity: Up to 250 guests · Location: Worsley Park, M28 2QT

Etrop Grange

A beautiful Georgian country house near Manchester Airport. Despite the location, it's surprisingly peaceful and feels completely secluded. The rooms are elegant and the staff are fantastic. One of my favourite venues for intimate weddings.

Capacity: Up to 120 guests · Location: Thorley Lane, M90 4EG

Unique & Industrial Venues

Victoria Warehouse

For couples wanting something different, Victoria Warehouse is a converted industrial warehouse with an incredible urban-chic aesthetic. Exposed brick, soaring ceilings and dramatic lighting — it's stunning. Close-up magic works brilliantly here during the drinks reception as guests explore the space.

Capacity: Up to 500 guests · Location: Trafford Wharf Road, M17 1AB

Gorton Monastery

One of Manchester's hidden gems — a beautifully restored Victorian monastery with breathtaking architecture. The Great Nave is one of the most spectacular wedding ceremony rooms I've ever performed in. It's a truly unique venue.

Capacity: Up to 500 guests · Location: Gorton Lane, M12 5WF

Manchester Hall

A converted Free Trade Hall with beautiful exposed stonework and contemporary styling. Manchester Hall offers flexible event spaces and is becoming increasingly popular for weddings and corporate events. The open-plan layout is ideal for circulating entertainment.

Capacity: Up to 300 guests · Location: 36 Bridge Street, M3 3BT

Boutique & Intimate Venues

King Street Townhouse

An elegant boutique hotel overlooking the Town Hall. The rooftop infinity pool with views across the city is unique in Manchester. For intimate weddings and dinner parties, it's one of the most stylish options in the city centre.

Capacity: Up to 80 guests · Location: 10 Booth Street, M2 4AW

Great John Street Hotel

A converted Victorian schoolhouse with a rooftop terrace and eclectic, boutique styling. It's quirky, charming and perfect for couples who want something a bit different. The intimate rooms are ideal for close-up magic.

Capacity: Up to 60 guests · Location: Great John Street, M3 4FD

Tips for Choosing Your Manchester Wedding Venue

After performing at hundreds of Manchester weddings, here are my top tips:

  • Visit in person — photos don't always capture the atmosphere. See it on a day when another event is taking place if possible.
  • Consider the flow — think about how guests will move between ceremony, drinks reception and dining. The best venues have natural flow between spaces.
  • Check supplier flexibility — some venues have preferred supplier lists. Most are happy for you to bring your own entertainment, but it's worth checking.
  • Think about timing — popular Manchester venues book up 18–24 months ahead for Saturday weddings in summer. If you've found your venue, secure it quickly.
  • Ask about outdoor space — Manchester weather can be unpredictable, but venues with covered outdoor areas give you the best of both worlds for drinks receptions.
