Bespoke Magical Proposals

Proposal Magician

Ask the question in the most unforgettable way imaginable.

I'm Nick Rushton — Magic Circle magician, TV performer, and for a handful of couples each year: the person who helps them propose in a way their partner will tell people about for the rest of their lives. A carefully planned, bespoke routine. The ring appears as the finale. The moment belongs to you.

The Most Unforgettable Proposal Your Partner Will Ever Hear About

Proposals are once in a lifetime moments. Most proposals are lovely but quickly forgotten by the friends and family who hear about them. A magical proposal is different — it becomes the story your partner tells, and re-tells, for years.

Here's how it works: I arrive at your chosen location — a restaurant, a hotel, a private dining room, your home. Your partner has no idea anything is planned. I approach and perform what looks like a short piece of close-up magic — cards, a coin, something small and natural. The routine builds. And at the finale, the engagement ring appears — from a card, from a lemon, from their own hand.

Then I disappear. The moment is entirely yours. You ask the question. They answer. The rest of the evening is whatever you'd planned.

How a Magical Proposal Is Planned

A completely bespoke service — every proposal is unique.

1

First Conversation

A phone call or email — you tell me about your partner, the vibe, and any specific ideas you have.

2

Routine Design

I design a routine that matches the location and your partner's personality. Intimate, playful, serious — whichever fits.

3

Venue Coordination

I liaise with the venue in advance so everything runs smoothly. Nobody else needs to be in on the secret unless you want them to be.

4

The Moment

I arrive, perform, reveal the ring, step back. You ask the question. The rest is yours forever.

Styles of Magical Proposal

Some couples want a quiet, private moment. Others want a full production. Both work beautifully.

The Private Proposal

Just the two of you — perhaps in your home, a quiet restaurant table, or a private dining room. The magic is intimate and personal. The moment is entirely between you.

Best for: shy partners, romantic dinners, introverts who'd hate a public scene.

The Restaurant Surprise

At dessert or drinks, a magician appears unexpectedly at your table. A normal-looking close-up routine, then the ring appears. Other diners often end up in tears. Restaurant pre-coordinated.

Best for: a beautiful surprise, a partner who loves attention, a shareable moment.

The Group Proposal

Family or close friends are in on it. We stage a gathering, I perform a longer piece of magic, and the ring appears at the finale — with everyone there to celebrate the moment they say yes.

Best for: couples who love a big reveal, families who\u2019d love to witness it.

Proposal Magician FAQs

Can a magician help me propose?

Yes — this is one of my most memorable services. I'll work with you to plan a bespoke proposal where the engagement ring is revealed as the finale of a magic routine. Done well, it's one of the most unforgettable ways anyone has ever been proposed to.

How does it work?

We plan it in advance — usually a few weeks ahead. You tell me about your partner, the location, the vibe you want (playful, romantic, serious), and any specific ideas you have. I design a routine that looks like a normal piece of magic right until the finale, when the ring appears in a way that connects to the story. The moment itself is entirely yours — I step back the instant the ring appears.

Where can you perform a magical proposal?

Anywhere. Restaurants, hotels, private dining rooms, homes, outdoor locations — I've performed proposals in all kinds of settings. We'll work around your chosen location and any constraints.

How much does a proposal magician cost?

Typically £600-£1,500 depending on location, planning time and specifics. It's a bespoke service so the price reflects the personalised planning, not just the performance itself. Get in touch for a quote.

How far in advance should I book?

Ideally 4-8 weeks — this gives time to plan, rehearse the routine, and nail the details. I can sometimes accommodate shorter notice for straightforward proposals. The more time we have, the more elaborate the routine can be.

Can you surprise my partner at a restaurant?

Yes — this is one of the most popular formats. I coordinate with the restaurant in advance, approach your table during dessert or drinks, perform what looks like an ordinary close-up routine, and reveal the ring at the finale. The surprise factor is total.

What if my partner is shy and hates being the centre of attention?

This is why we plan. If your partner would hate a big public scene, we design something private — just the two of you, or a very small group. Magic doesn't have to be theatrical. A quiet moment of pure astonishment works beautifully for shy partners too.

Is this a one-off, or can you also perform at the wedding later?

Both work. Many couples book me for the proposal and then later ask me back as their wedding magician. It creates a lovely narrative arc — the magic that started the engagement ending up at the wedding.
