Table Magician
Award-winning close-up magic performed at your guests' tables between courses.
I'm Nick Rushton, an award-winning table magician with over 29 years of experience performing close-up magic between courses at weddings, corporate dinners and private events across the UK. I'm a Previous Magic Circle Young Magician of the Year winner and I've appeared on BBC One, Channel 5 and Sky.
What Is Table Magic?
Table magic is close-up magic performed right at your guests' tables — typically between courses at a wedding breakfast, corporate dinner or private event. I visit each table in turn, performing a unique mini-show for each group. No two tables see the same thing.
It's incredibly personal and intimate. Your guests experience impossible magic happening right in their hands — cards change, borrowed rings vanish and reappear in impossible places, and I'll reveal details people have only thought of. The reactions are priceless.
Table magic is perfect for:
- Wedding breakfasts — between courses while guests are seated and relaxed
- Corporate dinners — awards evenings, gala dinners and networking events
- Dinner parties — intimate private gatherings
- Birthday celebrations — milestone events and family gatherings
- Christmas parties — corporate and private festive dinners
How Table Magic Works
I work my way around the room, visiting each table in turn. At each table, I perform a private 5–8 minute show featuring a combination of sleight of hand, mind reading and comedy. The magic happens right in your guests' hands — they're not just watching, they're part of it.
My style is relaxed and fun. I don't do anything embarrassing or awkward — just genuinely astonishing magic that leaves people smiling, laughing and talking to each other. It's the perfect conversation starter, especially at events where not all guests know each other.
I'm always smartly dressed, I arrive early, and I coordinate with your venue or event organiser so the timing works perfectly around service. You don't need to worry about a thing.
Table Magic vs Mix-and-Mingle
Table magic and mix-and-mingle are both types of close-up magic, but they work differently:
Table Magic
Performed at seated tables, usually between courses. Each table gets a private show. Perfect for sit-down meals and formal events.
Mix-and-Mingle
Performed to standing groups during drinks receptions, circulating events and parties. I move between groups as people chat and socialise.
Many clients book me for a combination of both — mix-and-mingle during the drinks reception, then table magic between courses. This is particularly popular at weddings.

Table magic works in different ways depending on your event. Here's a quick guide to the best timing:
Table Magic at Weddings
The wedding breakfast is the most popular time for table magic. Your guests are seated, relaxed and waiting between courses — it's the perfect moment. I visit each table with a unique set, and the reactions build excitement as guests hear gasps and laughter from neighbouring tables. Many couples also add mix-and-mingle magic during the drinks reception for the full experience.
Table Magic at Corporate Events
Corporate dinners, awards ceremonies and gala events are ideal for table magic. It gets colleagues, clients and delegates talking to each other — it's the ultimate networking tool. I've performed at corporate events across the UK for businesses of all sizes, from intimate board dinners to 500-guest awards ceremonies.
Table Magic at Private Dinners
Dinner parties are wonderful for table magic because the intimate setting makes the experience even more personal. Whether it's a milestone birthday, an anniversary or just a gathering of friends, magic between courses transforms a lovely dinner into something genuinely unforgettable.
