Best Wedding Venues in Liverpool & Merseyside

Written by Nick Rushton — Award-Winning Magician

Having performed as a wedding magician in Liverpool for over 29 years, I've been lucky enough to work at most of the city's top wedding venues. Here's my personal guide to the best wedding venues in Liverpool and across Merseyside — based on real experience performing at hundreds of weddings in the region.

Iconic City Wedding Venues

Titanic Hotel Liverpool

Set inside the beautifully restored Stanley Dock warehouse, the Titanic Hotel is one of Liverpool's most dramatic wedding venues. The adjoining Rum Warehouse handles enormous celebrations, while the hotel itself suits more intimate days. The exposed brick and industrial scale make a stunning backdrop, and close-up magic works beautifully as guests gather in the cavernous reception spaces.

Capacity: Up to 900 guests (Rum Warehouse) · Location: Stanley Dock, Regent Road, L3 0AN

30 James Street

The "Home of the Titanic" is a Grade II* listed building with a rooftop offering panoramic views over the waterfront. It's one of the most romantic wedding venues in the city — elegant, characterful and full of history. The intimate rooms are perfect for table magic between courses.

Capacity: Up to 250 guests · Location: 30 James Street, L2 7PQ

Liverpool Town Hall

One of the finest Georgian buildings in the country, Liverpool Town Hall offers genuine civic grandeur — sweeping staircases, gilded ballrooms and chandeliers. It's a real statement venue for couples wanting something spectacular in the heart of the city.

Capacity: Up to 280 guests · Location: High Street, L2 3SW

Aloft Liverpool

Housed in the former Royal Insurance Building, Aloft blends ornate period architecture with a stylish modern hotel. The Grand Hall is a striking ceremony and reception space, and the central location makes it easy for guests travelling in.

Capacity: Up to 150 guests · Location: North John Street, L2 6RR

Unique & Garden Venues

Sefton Park Palm House

A stunning Grade II* listed Victorian glasshouse set in one of Liverpool's most beautiful parks. Light, airy and surrounded by greenery, it's a magical setting for spring and summer weddings. The open layout is ideal for mix-and-mingle close-up magic during the drinks reception.

Capacity: Up to 130 guests · Location: Sefton Park, L17 1AP

The Shankly Hotel

A characterful city-centre hotel celebrating the life of Bill Shankly, with a popular rooftop bar and stylish event spaces. It's a fun, contemporary choice for couples who want a relaxed city wedding with personality.

Capacity: Up to 200 guests · Location: 60 Victoria Street, L1 6JD

Wirral & Merseyside Country Venues

Thornton Manor

One of the most prestigious wedding venues in the North West, Thornton Manor sits in a magnificent lakeside estate on the Wirral. With the elegant Manor, the Coach House and a spectacular lakeside marquee, it caters for everything from intimate gatherings to grand celebrations. I've performed here many times — it's a truly special venue.

Capacity: Up to 300+ guests · Location: Thornton Hough, Wirral, CH63 1JF

Hillbark Hotel

A magnificent mock-Tudor mansion set in 250 acres of parkland on the Wirral. Hillbark feels wonderfully private and exclusive, with beautiful grounds and characterful rooms. It's a favourite for couples wanting a luxurious country-house feel close to the city.

Capacity: Up to 120 guests · Location: Royden Park, Frankby, CH48 1NP

The Leverhulme Hotel

An elegant art deco hotel in the historic garden village of Port Sunlight. The curved architecture and stylish interiors make it a distinctive choice, and the village setting is genuinely charming for photographs.

Capacity: Up to 120 guests · Location: Central Road, Port Sunlight, CH62 5EZ

Knowsley Hall

The ancestral home of the Earls of Derby, Knowsley Hall is a stunning stately home set in 2,500 acres just outside the city. It's exclusive, grand and steeped in history — read my dedicated Knowsley Hall magician guide for more.

Capacity: Up to 120 seated · Location: Knowsley, Prescot, L34 4AG

Tips for Choosing Your Liverpool Wedding Venue

After performing at hundreds of Merseyside weddings, here are my top tips:

  • Visit in person — photos don't always capture the atmosphere. See it on a day when another event is taking place if possible.
  • Consider the flow — think about how guests will move between ceremony, drinks reception and dining. The best venues have natural flow between spaces.
  • City or country? — Liverpool offers both dramatic dockside spaces and beautiful Wirral country estates. Think about the feel you want and how far guests will travel.
  • Check supplier flexibility — most venues are happy for you to bring your own entertainment, but it's worth confirming there's no preferred supplier list.
  • Book early — popular Liverpool venues book up 18–24 months ahead for Saturday weddings in summer. If you've found the one, secure it quickly.
