Best Wedding Venues in Leeds & West Yorkshire

Written by Nick Rushton — Award-Winning Magician

Having performed as a wedding magician in Leeds for over 29 years, I've been lucky enough to work at most of the area's top wedding venues. Here's my personal guide to the best wedding venues in Leeds and across West Yorkshire — based on real experience performing at hundreds of weddings in the region.

Grand City & Hotel Venues

The Queens Hotel

An iconic art deco landmark overlooking City Square, The Queens Hotel is one of Leeds' grandest wedding venues. The ballroom is spectacular, the central location is perfect for guests travelling in, and the glamour of the building gives the whole day a real sense of occasion. Close-up magic works beautifully in the elegant reception spaces.

Capacity: Up to 350 guests · Location: City Square, LS1 1PJ

Dakota Leeds

A stylish, contemporary boutique hotel in the city centre, Dakota is ideal for couples wanting a sleek, modern wedding. The intimate spaces and excellent service make it a popular choice for smaller, design-led celebrations.

Capacity: Up to 120 guests · Location: 8 Russell Street, LS1 5RN

Oulton Hall

A beautiful Grade II listed country house hotel set in landscaped grounds near Rothwell. With elegant interiors, a sweeping staircase and well-appointed function rooms, Oulton Hall is a perennial favourite for larger Leeds weddings.

Capacity: Up to 250 guests · Location: Rothwell Lane, Oulton, LS26 8HN

Country House & Estate Venues

The Mansion, Roundhay Park

A stunning Georgian mansion set within Roundhay Park, one of the largest city parks in Europe. The Mansion combines period elegance with contemporary styling and beautiful parkland views — a gorgeous setting for both ceremony and reception. Table magic between courses works wonderfully here.

Capacity: Up to 200 guests · Location: Roundhay Park, LS8 2HH

Harewood House

One of Yorkshire's great stately homes, Harewood House offers truly grand surroundings with magnificent state rooms and gardens designed by Capability Brown. It's an exclusive, breathtaking venue for couples who want a wedding on the grandest scale.

Capacity: Up to 150 guests · Location: Harewood, LS17 9LG

Bowcliffe Hall

A characterful Georgian hall near Wetherby with beautiful grounds and the unique tree-house-style Blackburn Wing. It's a flexible, picturesque venue that feels private and exclusive.

Capacity: Up to 200 guests · Location: Bramham, Wetherby, LS23 6LP

Wood Hall Hotel

A Georgian country house hotel set in 100 acres of parkland near Wetherby. Peaceful, elegant and surrounded by countryside, it's perfect for couples wanting a relaxed country-house wedding within easy reach of the city.

Capacity: Up to 120 guests · Location: Trip Lane, Linton, Wetherby, LS22 4JA

Unique & Castle Venues

Hazlewood Castle

A historic castle near Tadcaster set in 77 acres of parkland. With centuries of history, beautiful grounds and atmospheric interiors, Hazlewood Castle is a fairytale choice for couples wanting something truly memorable.

Capacity: Up to 120 guests · Location: Paradise Lane, Hazlewood, Tadcaster, LS24 9NJ

Rudding Park

Just outside Harrogate but firmly on the Leeds wedding circuit, Rudding Park is a luxurious country estate with a spa, gardens and elegant event spaces. It's one of the finest venues in the region and a regular host of beautiful weddings.

Capacity: Up to 180 guests · Location: Follifoot, Harrogate, HG3 1JH

Tips for Choosing Your Leeds Wedding Venue

After performing at hundreds of West Yorkshire weddings, here are my top tips:

  • Visit in person — photos don't always capture the atmosphere. See it on a day when another event is taking place if possible.
  • City or country? — Leeds offers grand city hotels and beautiful country estates. Think about the feel you want and how far guests will travel.
  • Consider the flow — the best venues have natural flow between ceremony, drinks reception and dining.
  • Check supplier flexibility — most venues are happy for you to bring your own entertainment, but it's worth confirming.
  • Book early — popular Leeds venues book up 18–24 months ahead for Saturday weddings in summer.
